Artist Statement

 

For the last few year's my paintings have been a dialogue between marks and material. In acrylic, oil, and some mixed material works. I have been exploring psychological and emotional states, focusing on conflicting states of mind and manner of reflection. I continually try to challenge my  body of work to grow helically; In the tradition of William De Kooning , Kathe Kollwitz, Jenny Saville, and Alex kanevsky.  I use various textures in acrylic, oils, charcoal, and epoxy resin to create, human figures, Portraits, and animals as metaphors in a combined reality/realityfantasy of atmosphere and narrative.
